The data used in this project were: (1) Qualitative observations of the Kompas.id website, including its layout, navigation, content structure, and features. (2) Qualitative observations of competitor websites (The New York Times, BBC, Tempo.co), focusing on similar aspects. (3) Screenshots and visual representations of the websites for comparative analysis.
The Problem
The Kompas.id website has positive aspects like adjustable font sizes, audio features, and a user-friendly search function. Areas for improvement include content spacing, navigation accessibility, visual balance, international news categorization, and search results visuals. Competitor analysis revealed strengths and weaknesses in layout, font choices, news categorization, and search functionality. To improve, reduce gaps between news cards, add borders for clearer content, align text and images, relocate category news navigation, organize international news by continent or trending topics, increase thumbnail size in search results, and introduce personalized news feeds.
