Overview

This project evaluates the functional architecture and monetization strategies of leading business websites to support the revamp of Performance Magazine. It focuses on three key areas: job boards, user account systems, and media kits, which directly influence user engagement, conversion, and revenue generation. The analysis provides a data driven foundation for designing scalable and competitive platform features.
Data Details
The objective was to conduct a structured competitive benchmarking study across selected high performing business platforms. The analysis aimed to identify core functional components, map user flows, and quantify feature adoption frequency across job boards, gated content systems, and media kits. Data was collected through systematic feature extraction, UX observation, and comparative analysis to evaluate both usability patterns and monetization models.
The Problem
The analysis identified dominant design patterns such as advanced filtering and tiered pricing in job boards, hybrid paywall models in membership systems, and standardized content hierarchies in media kits. High frequency features were translated into implementation priorities, while gaps revealed opportunities for differentiation. The project delivered actionable recommendations, including scalable monetisation tiers, optimised user onboarding flows, and a structured media kit framework, enabling Performance Magazine to enhance user experience, improve conversion rates, and strengthen its commercial positioning.
The Solution
A mixed method benchmarking framework was applied, combining qualitative UX analysis with quantitative feature frequency mapping. For each category, five competitor platforms were analyzed using standardized templates to capture functional elements, employer workflows, gating mechanisms, and content structures. Techniques included funnel analysis for user journeys, pricing model comparison, and feature clustering to identify common and differentiating patterns. Data was structured into multi tab datasets to enable cross sectional analysis and consistency validation.
