This project analyzes why Free and Premium users behave differently on Eklipse, a platform that allows users to upload game sessions, generate and edit clips, and access premium features. The goal is to diagnose the causes behind user engagement trends, identify factors affecting premium conversions, and determine the impact of specific games on user activity.
Data Details
The objective was to understand user behavior and monetization patterns. The analysis explored why free users spend more time per session but use fewer advanced features, why some games lead to higher engagement and revenue, and why users decide to upgrade to Premium or not. The work used data from clips, downloaded clips, game sessions, premium users, and shared clips datasets.
The Problem
Free users show very high value but low conversion. They spent 6,132 gameplay hours versus 2,851 hours for Premium users and created more clips, yet downloads are limited. This shows strong dependence on the platform without enough reasons to upgrade. Premium users work more efficiently, with shorter sessions and better results, using AI editing and multi platform sharing. COD Warzone and Fortnite lead in downloads and clips, while Valorant and Overwatch 2 show rising premium potential. Many clips sit under Unknown or Other Games, which weakens insights. Growth should focus on personalized upgrades, short premium trials, game focused marketing, flexible AI editing pricing, and better data tagging.
The Solution
The issue was resolved by conducting user behavior, conversion, and engagement diagnostics. Session duration, clip creation, downloads, and sharing metrics were analyzed across Free and Premium users to identify engagement gaps. Conversion barriers were assessed by evaluating feature limitations and segmenting users based on usage patterns that predict upgrades. Game level analysis measured engagement drivers, including AI generated highlights and short form clips. This identified high value titles such as COD Warzone, Fortnite, and Valorant with strong monetization potential.
